Valdosta Orthodox Christian Mission was established by a group of Orthodox Christians with a desire to provide our community access to Orthodox worship. Seeing the need, Archbishop Dmitri (OCA- Diocese of the South) and Fr. Ted Pisarchuk (the missions and evangelism director of our diocese) gave us their blessing to hold readers services while exploring the possibility of establishing an official Orthodox Mission in Valdosta, GA.
On the weekend of August 19, 2006 our first Great Vespers and our first Divine Liturgy were served with Fr. Sergius Clark from Jacksonville, FL. The Valdosta Daily Times ran a feature on us at that time.
Our worship services are currently held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3501 Bemiss Road.
The Orthodox tradition may be quite different from your previous church experience. We will do all we can to make you feel welome, and there will be no pressure on you to join the Orthodox Church. We encourage you to bring your children.
